Samsung PN50A550 Review

Samsung PN50A550 is a 50-inch Plasma High Definition (HD) TV which provides very good quality of picture. Anybody would find its design classy and gorgeous at his or her first look. It has a similarity with lat year’s FP-T5084 in terms of design. It has a glossy back frame. The Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (SEO:005930) PN50A550 HDTV measures 48.5 inches wide by 32.7 inches tall by 12.6 inches deep and weighs 91.3 pounds. Apart from its designs, the latest HDTV from Samsung has some excellent features. It has a resolution of 1920x1080 (aka 1080p). With three adjustable picture modes, it offers some liberty for the users.

CNN reported:

Samsung's connectivity suite is basically unchanged from 2007. Two HDMI inputs are available around back, while a third can be found in a recessed bay along the panel's left side. There's also a pair of component-video inputs; an AV input with S-Video and composite video; a single RF input for cable and antenna (the '07 models had two); and a VGA-style RGB input for computers (1,920x1,080 maximum resolution). That recessed bay offers an additional AV input with S-Video and composite video, a headphone jack, and the aforementioned USB port.

Performance Overall, the Samsung PN50A550 produces an excellent picture, with highly accurate colors, very little noise, and solid processing. Its can deliver relatively deep blacks, although it can't muster quite the inkiness of Pioneer's Kuro sets or the latest generation of Panasonic plasmas. Our one gripe concerns its ineffective antireflective screen, which makes it less desirable in brightly lit conditions.

Samsung PN50A550 has a very good video processing. Video based material can run well in this HDTV and can display every pixel of both 1080i and 1080p sources. Its color accuracy and uniformity are also satisfactory. Its anti-reflecting screens which is called FilterBright is not, though, that much effective. However, its SD noise reduction is satisfactory. Samsung PN50A550 seems to be an excellent Plasma HDTV.
